Om Kirken

"Ansgar Kirke" is the Danish Church in the North of Flensburg, in Kobbermølle/Kupfermühle, Kluus and Nyhus/Niehus and the congregation has about 750 voting members.

The church was consecrated  November 3rd 1968. The building of the church, the rectory and the parish hall was made posssible by the foundation of A.P. Møller and his wife, Chastine McKinney-Møller. Outside as well as inside the church has a  clear und bright appearance, its tower being a landmark to be seen from far away

Short History

The first Danish church service after 1920 had been celebrated in 1926 in the Danish school in Kobbermølle. After World War II the  North of  Flensburg, Kobbermølle and Klus were established as a separate Danish parish in 1948. Danish worship services were at first held in St. Peter`s Church (German), but October 23rd 1949 the assembly hall at the newly erected after-school centre in Junckerhohlweg 20 was taken in use as church-hall. So it remained until 1968, when the long held wishes of the congregation to have its own church were fulfilled thanks to the generosity of the A.P. Møller-Foundation.
